STONE ON STONE is a cycle that was made during the 1980s. Smooth-cornered stone blocks were put on top of one another or one beside another, creating closed circuits based on the Istrian tradition of dry stone wall. The name of the series refers to the countless number of ancient buildings, rocks and townlets dispersed across the Istrian countryside. These sculptures are inhabited by the magical character of the neolithic culture, desiring to penetrate to the essence of the primal.
